11pm Cinderellas
One of the more underated lines in V goes like this,
"After all, A revolution without dancing is not a revolution worth fighting for. "
I couldnt agree more.
It is difficult to fight for abstract ideas as Democracy, Freedom, Justice, Equality.
They are after all, rather vague concepts, open to manipulation and interpretation.
But the specifics, the simple pleasures of lives, now, that is something truly worth fighting for.
I will fight for my right to play soccer in any public places of my own choosing and time (with due consideration to neighbouring residents of course )
I will fight for my right to have dao3 hui1 (beancurd) at any place and time of my choosing, be it Geylang or Selegie, be it 3am or 3pm.
I will fight for my right to listen to Tschaivosky, techno or trance the nth.
And I might not have the desire to do so now, but whenever the fancy and inclination strikes me, I will loiter in any godamned public spaces as i wish to.
Our poor youth will no longer be able to do that in state sanctioned peace.
And Cinderella thought she had it tough.
